A gutter deep clean is a full restorative clean for gutters that have been neglected for five or more years, or that are visibly blocked, overflowing or growing moss and plants. We remove everything the years have packed in: wet silt, sludge, seedlings, bark and debris. Then we flush every downpipe, check the health of the gutter line and roof edge, and photograph the lot so you can see exactly what was done.
This service exists for the gutters that got forgotten. If your gutters are still flowing and were cleaned in the last couple of years, you probably need our Regular Gutter Clean instead.
Everything we pull out of your gutters leaves with us and is disposed of legally. No bags of sludge left at your bin, no debris on the lawn.
Leaves are only the start. They break down into wet silt that never dries. The trapped moisture grows moss, then weeds, then plants rooting into the line. Standing water and damp sludge rust the gutter from the inside, faster than leaves alone ever would. And once water can’t drain, it goes backwards: under the roofline, into fascias, eaves and ceilings.
A deep clean stops that sequence wherever it’s up to. The earlier we get to it, the more of your gutter we save.
Most homes only need one of these. Tell us about your property and we’ll recommend the right service and quote it, usually without anyone setting foot on site.
For full, clogged or long-neglected gutters
Best if: 5+ years since a clean, visible moss or plants, overflow, or damp near the eaves.
Scheduled every 3–24 months
Best if: your gutters are flowing, cleaned within ~2 years, with no moss or overflow.
Beyond the regular and deep cleans, these are the add-ons we’re most often asked for, book them on their own or alongside a clean.
We don’t recommend guard unless you truly need it. We’ll tell you straight whether it’s worth it for your roof.
Got guard you’ve decided against? We’ll remove and dispose of it as part of a clean.
Leafy block? We’ll clear sticks, leaves and branches off the roof itself while we’re up there.
No sales spin. Here’s how we’d answer them on the phone.
The dividing line is condition, not the calendar. If your gutters were cleaned within the last couple of years, are flowing freely and show no moss or plant growth, a regular clean is all you need. If they’re packed to the brim, overflowing in rain, sprouting greenery, or haven’t been touched in five or more years, you’re in deep clean territory. Other tells include water sheeting over the edge instead of reaching the downpipes, sagging sections, and damp or staining near the eaves. Not sure? Our quote form asks a few quick questions and works it out for you, or send us a photo from the ground and we’ll tell you straight.
Yes, and it’s the most expensive thing about them. Blocked gutters hold standing water and wet sludge against the roof edge, which rusts the gutter from the inside far faster than leaves alone ever would. Once water can’t drain, it backs up under the roofline into fascias, eaves and ceilings, which is where rot, mould and internal leaks begin. The weight of saturated debris also drags on brackets and pulls gutters out of alignment. Most of the leaks our roofing team repairs across Sydney trace back to a gutter that was never cleaned, and the earlier a deep clean happens, the more of the system we save.
You’ll see exactly what we saw. We photograph anything of concern, explain what it means in plain English, and give you an honest read on whether it needs attention now or can simply be watched. Years of blockage often leave evidence behind, early rust, tired brackets, water marks on fascia boards, and finding it early is part of the value of a deep clean. Because we’re the maintenance arm of Sky Dog Roofing, genuine damage can be quoted and repaired properly by a licensed roofing team if you choose. We never invent problems to sell repairs, and plenty of what we find needs nothing more than monitoring.
Most Sydney homes take between two and five hours, and the biggest jobs can run most of a day. The main factors are the size of the home, single or double storey access, roof pitch, how compacted the material is, and whether gutter guard has to come off before we can reach what’s underneath. Deep cleans take longer than regular cleans by design: the point is removing the wet, compacted base layer of silt, sludge and roots, not just the loose leaves on top, and rushing that defeats the purpose. We confirm expected timing with your quote so you know what the day looks like.
The price depends on the size of the home, single or double storey access, roof pitch, how full the gutters are, and whether gutter guard needs to be removed first. A deep clean costs more than a regular clean because we’re removing years of compacted material and flushing the whole system, but it’s a single reset: once it’s done, a regular clean or a recurring plan keeps you at the cheaper end of gutter care permanently. Tell us about your property through the quote form and we’ll price it remotely, usually without a site visit, with no obligation and no pressure to book.
Yes, every bit of it. The silt, sludge, moss, plants and debris we pull out is bagged as we go, leaves with us, and is disposed of legally. Nothing gets left in a pile beside your bin, dumped in the garden beds or hosed down the driveway. People are often surprised how much a neglected gutter holds: years of wet, compacted material adds up quickly across a whole house. Your before and after photos show the difference along every metre of the gutter line, so you can see exactly what came out and the true condition of the gutters underneath it.
No, we rarely need you home for the clean. As long as we can get onto the property safely and you are happy for us to go ahead, we can take care of everything while you are at work or out for the day. Just let us know about locked gates, alarm codes or a dog in the yard when you book, and we will work around them. Once we are finished we send through photos of the cleaned gutters and a short note on anything we spotted up there, so you can see exactly what was done without having been there.
